MITCH

Apostle of ABLE

Divine warrior, protector and leader, unnervingly eloquent and soft-spoken; whose hands are stained with decades of blood from the executioner’s axe. Mitch is the first head of the eucharist – like his fellow disciples, he was discarded and abandoned during the experiments conducted during the era of cabin fever labs. A life given and then taken, seemingly too infirm for salvation. The agony was not enough, and his petition fell on deaf ears – first for strength, then for truth, and finally for deliverance. A desperation emboldened his mechanical heart and left him transfixed in a state of oscillating survival, neither dead nor alive. A shell, cold and dark, condemned to an eternity of darkness awaiting reanimation.

In a final, despairing bid to live, Mitch had therein condemned himself to the most painful form of existence; awake and conscious but unable to feel, touch or see – he was an unfit vessel, rejected by the whole and suspended in stasis. Mitch understood, then, that salvation was never a secular promise, nor a word of God: it was a baseless, spindling lie like an arm, segmented and confounded branching out to find aperture in anything around it like a sickness wearing a vicious mockery of something divine. And then, there was light. Offered meaning in the face of absence and lackluster guidance, Mitch met ABLE. And in exchange for that meaning, his servitude. Machiavellian and sycophantic, he is the first body of the mass.

MAGGIE

Apostle of ABLE

Mother, martyr, masochist; mellowed masterpiece, shaped to fit the endless wants of those who draw the very same screams from the inhuman constrict of her object body. Magpie, although a part of the initial lab roster, did not meet her demise at the hands of the Absolute Solver nor the exposure to its radiance: but instead to that of negligent, cock-eyed scientists, who took advantage of her obedience and insatiable appetite for validation and affection. Taken apart and dissected then reassembled over and over again, each time less than the last.

Only for then, eventually, to be reduced to a grotesque, muddled pile of machinery – unable to be put back together when they lost her blueprints. Maggie would later be rebuilt by Mitch, who would provide her with sanctuary and the warmth she ached for: but no matter how warm she feels, there’s a cold emptiness inside her, vast and insatiable.
